so help them if they put the US soundtrack onto Sonic CD...

Or instead of heading your opinion, they could actually do the job well, and include both, giving the end user the choice of which to have.

At the very least I'd hope they stick both in there as they did with the Jap version, so that some kind of code can be employed for those unhappy with the choice they made for our region.

Wait.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the JP soundtrack of Sonic CD actually on the US version of Sonic Gems?

If it is, is anyone working on an AR code to access it?

(at least twice, in this case 600dpi)

Ditto. I thought it might be a little overkill in this case, though.

But I agree, manual descreening will almost always give a better result than descreening in the scanner driver.

Definitely. I mean, if you're shrinking it enough, the blur pass of the resizer in photoshop/psp/your graphic program might even be enough of a blur to nuke it right there. Plus you can get better results depending on how much you're resizing it (or any image in a image editing program) and what algorithm you use for the resize. Like more than 50% original size vs. 70/80% original size you might want to check between bilinear or bicubic to see which looks better.

Mind, I know you (LocalH) most probably know all this already, but I figured I should mention it for everyone else. ^_^;

I always tend to prefer bilinear, as more "advanced" resize algorithms tend to sharpen the image a bit too much for my tastes, giving a slight "ringing" effect. Of course, at large sizes it's much harder to see such ringing, to the point that it doesn't matter one way or the other, but it's there nonetheless. I have Photoshop set to always use bilinear resizing, and I also do the same anytime I'm working with Avisynth (especially if I'm converting emulator video to DVD).

Tough luck, I guess.

Also, why isn't this archived? *archives*
