Mines probably Slayer - South of Heaven.

Its the only album of Slayer's ive got and its pretty good. Im not really a fan of death metal at all and I can only really tolorate that album in small doses (it was recommended to me), I listened to it all on the bus this morning and it was suffocating, really suffocating, just a relentless attack. Some songs are genuinely horrifying like 'Mandatory Suicide', but for all their heaviness theres some absolutly phenominal guitar work, I dont know any other band who can play at the speed, technicallity and relentlessness as Slayer, its just mind boggling, as a guitarist I just sit there, guitar in hand just thinking 'how the fuck do i play that at that speed?'.

I dunno, I regularly go to a club that plays REALLY heavy shit (Jillys in Manchester if anyones interested or go there themselves) and sometimes its ok, other times i cant tolorate it. I dont like screamy lyrics (a trait that Slayer dont have, luckily) except a very few songs.

what about anyone else?

and please, no bashing, i dont want to start any arguments like 'OMG METALLICA SUCK!!!111!!1 SLAYER ARE SHIT!!!111OMG'

Linkin Pork does not count as being heavy, unless you mean that its heavy on screaming.

heaviest album I own would be either Rammstein - Mutter, Dream Theater - Live Scenes from New York, Nightwish - Once (platin), or Iron MAiden - Dance of Death (DVD Audio disc), depending on your definition of "heaviest".

Rammstein is kinda nazi-like, but the music doesn't have much depth.
Nightwish is more melodic, and thus kind of light, even though it is mostly based on guitars.
Iron Maiden is a classic , duh.
Dream Theater - Live Scenes from New York is progressive metal, and their style varies between getting lost in virtuosity to playing epic melodies (often 10+ minute long ones).

if I count mp3s as well, then its either Type O Negative - Life is Killing Me or CKY Volume 1.

You say Cradle of Filth? Not heavy, just melodic black metal (I love it).

For me, heaviest album of all the time is Kill 'em All. Metallica, of course :P

Most of you guys have gay music taste apart from Borisz and Ultima and the guy who mentioned Metallica (though I'm not much of a fan, I know they have done some good songs).

Let's see, albums I own. Meaning not on the computer.

Well, I have an N'SYNC album from who knows how long ago. Oh, and I burned the Offspring album 'Splinter' for a friend. Does that count? ^^;

THE BEST OF SIMON AND GARFUNKEL

Actually, it would probably be Lateralus or, as it seems to be indicated by the first reply (the most emo album*), Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, courtesy of bittorrent.

i stole this ozzy cd once from my stepdad when i went to sell all his cds he fucking left in my basement for years at the record store that had like, a big metal grating on it, that was pretty heavy.*

as for owning...probably my white zombie stuff. i'm not really a heavy music kinda guy anymore. i like my less-than-serious bands.

Doomsday Machine by Arch Enemy.

It's a shame, this band would kick so much more ass if they didn't constantly scream... Any reccomendations on non-screamy metal? (Slayer, Pantera, Metallica, etc.) I mean, the CD still kicks ass, just not as much as it could.

I also have Seshcmucht (too lazy to find it and get the actual spelling, but it's something like that) by Rammstein. 'S all right. And I know this is "heaviest album you OWN," but I'm ordering a couple of Gravity Kills albums off Amazon. (Pun not intended, they're an awesome techno-industrial band, though I suppose they wouldn't be very "heavy" as they're a lot more melodic than, say, NIN.)
