I figure we should have a thread for discussing official reviews, as well as for our own impressions when the game finally comes out.

-Anyways, the first review comes to us from Gamerz Edge, where it scored an impressive 9.0. It provides some detailed new information, such as the inclusion of a rigorous ranking system (Those bastards...they know my weakness...now I have to get this game) and some of the differences between Blaze and Sonic.

Though the market's moved on to 3D platformers which, admittedly, affords developers more opportunity for variety in their designs, this game does evolves the original Sonic style wonderfully by combining contemporary technology with fresh and new gameplay mechanics. And it's tough as nails."

Too bad SA2B didn't have optional S ranks for hardcore gamers :/

Anyway, Sonic Rush is shaping up pretty well. I'd KILL to get this game, but I don't even have a DS, so I doubt I'll be playing this anytime soon.

Can someone clarify this whole wi-fi thing? I hear that you can't play online, but that you can record your own game sessions. It's a cool idea, but there isn't much to it if you can only trade your videos with other kids on the block. How about the whole damn world? Is there some sort of official database that one would upload these recordings to? Anyone know? I've heard a lot of rumors and shit about this whole online thing, so any info would be cool.

The review didn't mention anything about that at all, so I'd bet that any online saving of runs is probably nixed. That would be cool though.

But of course it is! It's the latest Sonic game on a NINTENDO console! No bias here from the Official Nintendo Magazine, eh? =P

Kudos to NoM for recognising Sonic 2 though, that IS unexpected from them.

On a less sarcastic note, yes, I'm very much looking forward to this game, the first one that is actually worth getting a DS for =P

Same here. I want to get a DS just to play this game! But I don't think that's gonna happen for me anytime soon :/

Though there is only one review (I think) of Sonic Rush, I can't seem to find any reviews of Sonic Advance scoring a 90% or higher. From what I've seen, most of them are in the 70th percentile.

This game does remind me of the classic genesis games in a way though. Granted, sonic games use the same themes over and over again, but does the desert level not look like Sandopolis or the water level like Hydrocity? Hell, even that forest level reminds me of Angel Island! The GBA games phailed to do this.

I'm pumped up for this. I'll probably just snatch this from my friend when he isn't looking >_>

Just now Nintendo has made some new unwarezable (lol) carts...

QUOTE
Now for some bad news. As you may have noticed, no new Japanese NDS games are being released. Nintendo decided to makesome kind of new protection on recent JPN NDS carts. Our WRG buddies confirmed that these 'JAP 1.5' carts will not dump
with current dumpers. They have the games for you, but can't do anything with 'em.
Frustrating, eh? And only a matter of time until Nintendo implements this on the rest of their carts.
Ever-so-bored NDS devs: Take a look at current dumpers, and see if you can't make a new (or fixed SMT version) one to help WRG, DS owners, and eventually US/EUR people if Nintendo is lame.

For some reason, I'm really looking forward to this game. I haven't wanted a new Sonic game as much since Sonic & Knuckles.

If you check out http://www.gamerankings.com , none of the Advance games have less than an 80% percentage, with 3 the lowest at just over 80. They actually got a ton of good reviews, despite not sitting well with most 2d Sonic fans. Due to this, I'm really hoping Rush generally gets over 90 to be on the SAFE SIDE. The 3 I know of so far are 92% from Nintendo Official Magazine UK, 9/10 from Gamerz Edge and 85% from Gamesmaster UK (who sadly gave Advance 3 the same score).

Why the fuck would they give SAdv3 an 85%?

I'm pretty sure Rush will get a pretty high score with most of the gaming mags, considering it's not even out yet, and it's getting pretty good reviews. But it all might change come launch date. :\
