Hey guys,

About a year ago I went to the London Trocadero ( Big Arcade/shopping mall in London ) and found the SegaSonic Arcade Game on the lower floor arcade!

The game was hard to play as you had to use a big ball to move sonic and his team ( which followed you badly with AI ) and avoid lots of traps, rolling wheels with spikes and you had to break through lots of barriers. I didnt get very far! It was really hard to control but lots of fun. The character sprites moved a lot like those in the sonic 3D blast game.

The Ice level was especially hard as you also drifted off the edge and the tornadoes in the sandy level pushed you off! Also the game wasnt translated to English but you could still grasp the games story... basically they get caught by a big toothed robot and released in a trap filled island and they have to run for their lives.

It was a brill arcade game! I havent seen it anywhere else...

I will go and visit the Trocadero soon to see if its still there or if the owners have any idea what happened to it.

I don't remember getting your team mates to follow you with bad AI... How do you do that?

In the arcade they just follow behind you. Its quite funny cos they dont do it very well. Sometimes they fall to their death. Kinda like tails in sonic 2.

I went there on Friday, it didn't appear to be there at all. Nor did it on my visit back in 2001, as it goes, though I did see it there on a previous visit when it was still called Sega World.

Game looks cool but I found it pretty bad. I'll have another go sometime.

it'd be awesome if i could get my trackball to configure properly with the mame setup. i think it needs to be cleaned, but i'm terribly lazy.

huge cheap "child's mouse" trackballs rule for marble madness and bowling

Yeah it probably did have to do with the fact I was playing it on the PC. I wouldn't mind playing it in the arcade but the chances are pretty much zero.

You saw it too? Nice one! I wish I had joined this forum ages ago now! Right I think I am wrong about the AI. The more I think back Im starting to feel it could have just been the demo screen or my brother playing one of the other characters..(which would explain the crap playing =) ) It was a while ago.

Demo Image

I have also found a working emulator and rom for the game at

SegaSonic Arcade

Its a tiny screen and Im not certain the sounds are right either.

Can any one give me a better link to the recent mame and this sonic game?
