I remember when I was 4 or 5 years old, I went to summer camp at a private school near where I lived. They had a class devoted to playing video games there. I don't know why, but it was better than making those fucking macaroni necklace things. Anyway, they had a couple of Sega CDs, along with a bunch of Genesises (Genesi?) and SNESes. I remember that I was only intrested in playing Sonic CD most of the time, and I remember that they had two copies. One of them was pink. I remember someone specifically putting it into their Sega CD and booting it up. I remember looking for differences, but the only one I could find was the color of the backround in Tidal Tempest act 3. This was before I knew you could get good futures, though, so it was probably nothing. The label on the CD was the same as the other one, only pink instead of blue. It still had clouds on it, for some reason.
Does anyone know anything about this? Were there other copies like this?

the pink disc didn't have clouds, it was more like the news-print gradient shading of pink and nothing. I think the pink disc was just a "Not for resale" pack-in:

IPB Image

I would look for differences, but the copy I have is pretty fucked up; I got a Sega CD for free from someone, and the disc was just in the box that they had thrown the Sega CD into... they didn't take much care of it- there are gouges in the TOP of the disc (so the reflective material has holes in it), scratches on the bottom, the music skips, and the game has a wicked hard time loading. *shrug* :/

Paint over the gouges in the top with metallic paint and use a CD repair kit on the bottom. Then try and rip it to ISO before it goes bad again. =P

Sieg Heil. May great health bestow itself on our all knowing leader, George Bush

re-pub-li-can (n) - 1) A wealthy advocate of crony capitalism and supporter
of a totalitarian state benefiting the elite. 2) An inbred redneck or member of a
family with a history of inbreeding that typically falls for any false propaganda
claiming gun rights and lower taxes.

I think this suits George Bush better than Hail to the Chief. There's three meanings to the song. PM me if you think you can guess the three meanings. Hint: Two are fairly obvious (to gamers) and the third will take an astounding amount of digging.

I think I would have to contemplate suicide if I walked past a copy of Sonic CD... seriously, I've not seen a retail copy in a shop for years (maybe, not since ~1997 or even earlier than that). I've seen more 3DO games in the shops, and that's saying something (especially when one of them was Cannon Fodder =P).

Heh, it's pretty rare nowadays. You just have to know where to look. By the way, in another shop near me (Gamestation) there is a Panasonic 3DO with 30 games for sale. £40 i think, thats about $70.

I've got the pink Sonic CD. Nothing special, just different packaging.

Fuck, that's cheap. Unless of course all the games with it are shite (Burning Soldier... really, it's like Novastorm on the MCD, but worse)... not that all 3DO games are, of course there are some damn good ones (The Horde, Cannon Fodder, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Total Eclipse and Blade Force, which I have, though I hear Return Fire (allegedly quite rare) and Gex are also worth a look). Probably other good games, but nothing comes to mind right now =P

Oh yeah.. where is your local GameStation so I can... umm... go and buy it? >_> <_<

I noticed the pink disk has a "GA" rating on it, since this is pre-ESRB. Could that help tell us around when the pink disk was made?

Look at the lower right corner of the manual for my regular blue disc.

there are really no differences at all.

My local Gamestation is in Grimsby Town Centre. Crap shopping centre in my opinion, but you can find some hidden gems in Gamestation. Im 60% sure it's still there, in a cabinet at the front. Go take a look if you can, they also have a Spectrum if i am not mistaken.

Oh, woops. My bad for missing that. Yea, I guess the only diffrence is in color then really. What will you choose? Amy, or Sonic...hmmmm.....*begins complex and pointless decision and analysis process, which is acompanied by driving Hard Rock*

I have two copies of Sonic CD, both of which are pink. I got one for free when I bought my CDX for $4, and I got the other at Goodwill for $2.50 because the other I have had been pretty scratched up. I didn't even know that a blue version existed.

EDIT: Pictures addded because I have that much free time.

I could only find one of the Sonic CDs, so I put in my 5 in 1 disc.

Got the Blue and Pink in my collection :
- Blue seems to be the Retail one, sold in North America when it was released in 10/1993 with its "normal" box
- Pink : didn't know it was bundled with a console, but I should had guess because of the box format (external Instruction Manual)
That one was also released in Brazil by TecToy, according to this photo :
IPB Image
The box and the CD are the same, just the Manual which is not in English...
