Names escape me, and the credits for SA2/Heroes weren't quite helpful in identifying whos' who, so who was Shadow's old US VA?

IMDB says David Humphrey for Heroes and SA2. I've known imdb to be inaccurate and allegedly accepts fan submissions, but due to the back story written there, it seems more likely to be real.

But seriously, this isn't even a tough thing to do - just encrypt the entire disc

Which would actually make it illegal to backup under the DMCA, unlike the bullshit that Nintendo spew out. Two birds with one stone.

Not that it'd really affect anything, but it's practically the same as CSS.

QUOTE(YesIAmAnIdiot @ Nov 9 2005, 04:56 AM) *

There's a good chance it's Shadow. Shadow, unlike the rest of the cast, has a voice different from the 4Kids actors (probably because Shadow sounded too much like Sonic). That Shadow is DEFINITELY NOT Jason Anthony Griffith.

Well I haven't heard 4kids' Shadow, so that clears up a lot for me. I assumed he was just good at the different voices.

Note how the manual credits 4kids for the voice recording (page 28 in the Gamecube one). While the script will of course be Sega's, you'd think that ALL of the voice actors would be 4kids'.

So hang on. They replaced Shadow's voice with a one different to the Sonic X dub? What the hell was the point in that? I don't remember the Heroes VA dying or anything.

Two sentences.

Suspersize Me DVD.
'The Smoking Fry' extra.

Those aren't sentences. *runs*

And McDonalds is fine for me. Especially since in comparison, KFC and Wimpy are so fucking expensive. I mean I love Wimpy burgers the best, but McDonalds surpass them in value-for-money.

He prolly does the voice for Sonic though; I could see that happening.

Yes, after we've already found out that most (if not all) of the VAs have been replaced by 4kids' ones, they'll change Sonic's yet again in ANOTHER twist of events.

Or not. It's Jason Griffith.

QUOTE(cobra13402 @ Nov 7 2005, 03:09 PM) *

I simply don't think that coop fits in the sonic style of gameplay. The best example of where they did coop wasnt in the 3d game but in the advance series. Specificly sonic advance 3 had the best coop support but even then you didnt feel that you really were working together to get accross levels. People could easily get across the levels and to the same areas in the levels that they could get to without a partner. I just cant imagine a good way for them to do it while keeping there original speedy gameplay.

Well personally, I had great fun with Sonic 3 & Knuckles. It was great being flown places and flying my friends places. Whenever I played with Tails I always lost the fast gameplay due to my curiosity, so it was the same thing really.

My idea was really with Sonic Heroes. I liked the game, but if they're going to make a sequel then I'd like it to have co-op. And in terms of story, preferably be a bit less kiddy and more like SA2.

As I said, give them some of their SA and/or SA2 mechanics back (I think they were all faster in SA, so speed from there), and drop a few of the characters (Team Rose and Omega...). Then - as with Sonic 3 and Sonic Adventure - you necessarily aren't relying on the characters to be able to fly/climb/glide (might be good if it's required for 100% completion though). IMO, It's a hell of a lot better than in Heroes where Rouge's kicking is apparantly not worth using.

Office 2003 automatic updates never worked for me (I too have a pirate/cooperate version). When I last used them, there was a link to a downloadable EXE in the "More info" link for every update or something. Those always worked for me.

Well yeah, I was mostly talking about next gen games. Unless you guys want to somehow get the "Retro Sonic" source and play around with it. Hell that's not a bad idea, port it to Xbox will ya =P

I enjoyed Chaotix, but personally I prefer the Tails-flying-Sonic type of game than the ring binding. IMO, the ring binding is kinda linear in comparison.

This is an area that Sega have let me down twice in. When I first saw Sonic Heroes, from the screenshots I thought "Does that mean there's 3-player co-op!?". Sadly, no. Then again with Shadow the Hedgehog, I saw characters following him in the videos and thought the same thing.

And let's face it. Other than possibly SA2:B, the other Sonic multiplayer games of this generation (SA2 and SH) haven't been very good, and IMO, the one in Heroes took more time to program. In fact, let's weigh how much it would take for their multiplayer mode against a co-op mode for Heroes.

For creating its current 2p mode:
  • New music was made
  • Goals and level starts have to be changed
  • Engine has to be tweaked for split screen. Possibly moreso for the PS2 (theory, not criticism)
  • In terms of bobsled, they had to do a LOT. Didn't they create original levels for that?
For creating some sort of co-op mode:
  • Program some way of manually attaching to flying characters
  • Program some way of manually attaching to power characters
  • New way to handle the camera (which they did in the current 2p mode)
Maybe I just suck at thinking, but it doesn't sound too far fetched to me. If anything, they could have been lazy and given Tails his SA moves and Knuckles his SA2 moves for when they're on their own. I'd still want it. Hell even if they decided "We'll only give you 2-player co-op and no one can play the flying character," it's still be fucking awesome.

I am probably one of the most anti-social shits on this board, yet I want co-op. Did Sega confuse their target audiance with people who literally avoid human contact 100% of the time? I may not have a life, but I sure as hell have friends, and *gasp* siblings. I mean don't get me wrong, I like playing against my friends, but if you can't make a good VS mode then I say make a simple co-op mode.

Ever played San Andreas? There are SO many things you can't do in that 2 player mode, but it's great. When you're outside a mission and just feel like putting some cheats on and blowing shit up, why not do it with a friend? How much was even programmed for that 2p mode? Simply another camera, a simple in-car shooting system, and a few restrictions.

Discuss or something =P

And yes I do realise that I completely failed at adding a poll, but apparantly this IPB can't let you do that now, so meh. *shrugs*

......No language selection.

This IS the Gamecube version, but I'm still not too optimistic. With Xbox Heroes you had to set your Xbox to Japanese, and IIRC, there was just no way with PS2.

QUOTE(Mad Gear @ Nov 1 2005, 07:59 PM) *

But, even if a game happens to be programmed good doesn't mean I'm automatically going to like it.

Well, that's a given. I'm not saying I like Heroes, I'm just saying I have (had) no problems with it glitch-wise.

The game itself:

+No Chao Garden.
+No mech stages. Although the speed levels in SA/SA2 were the best, I like a level as long as you're on foot and not in a stupid mech.
+REALLY hard at first in some places for me. Like I said before, new mechanics.

-After completing the story, 100% completion isn't hard due to practice. With some levels, Super Hard mode was easier than playing those levels for the first time in normal mode.
-A lot more childish. If this is an E (as opposed to the lowest rating; EC), then SA2 is borderline E/E10+, IMO.
-No matter how you play it, Team Rose's experience is never good. It's the most boring team to start the game with and the most shitty team to play after another, except possibly Chaotix.
-Sega of America don't know when to not use "it's". See the end of level 2.

Truth. And now for old quote #2

http://forums.sonic-cult.net/index.php?s=&...ndpost&p=179024

QUOTE(Dude @ May 29 2004, 03:42 PM) *

Actually, its because the player isn't completely familiar with the physics/mechanics of the move, and thus fail to execute it properly. I haven't missed a light dash in over a year and a half. I've NEVER missed a light attack, and I know when a homing attack will connect or not, before I even press the button.

I assume you were talking about Heroes in addition to the Adventure series, bit if not then meh. I also know when a homing attack will fail, and I only fail if I decide to react when I fucking shouldn't (i.e. "Not now....NOW! Damn, too early"). It's exactly why I've been challenged by every first attempt on a final boss in the 3D games, but kicked ass soon afterwards - With the slight exception of Sonic Adventure, they all had new mechanics.. Therefore I can either conclude either
a) I rule
b) You guys suck
or c) SSUK is right

Hell if you guys can't get the feel for the mechanics of a game (outside of "WHEN U JUMP U GO DOWN LOL"), you guys must suck at Lemmings. "How the hell am I supposed to remember that the catapult catapults the lemmings?" "Lemmings bounce on trampolines?" "Well you can't expect me to know that when you make a Lemming a runner it runs faster."

Nik and Cryo's posts seconded.

Nintendo are the only people who seem to be continuing games I like as much as the SNES and Megadrive era's. Mario Sunshine, Pikmin. A lot of their stuff is damn good. Hell I liked a lot of Dreamcast stuff (Toy Commander is great for multiplayer), and Saturn stuff was obviously good since the shit games came in starting with the Playstation.

Hell a lot of games I consider 'good' are ones where the brainwashed people contribute a lot. I like the 3D GTA seres a lot due to the mass freedom, but you guys well know a lot of the buyers buy it because of "ZOMG GUNS SHOOTING LOLLLL". I mean, didn't the first 2 GTAs not really do as well? OF COURSE NOT, THEY AREN'T IN 3D U N00BZ!!@!@!!!!

(Note that I used an American keyboard design for my idiot impersonation =P)

Hell what happened to SCUMM games? Monkey Island 4 was a prime example of this brain washing bullshit. Oh, but it was released on PS2. Well you obviously can't have a 2D game on the PS2.

I had a Maxtor. About a month after the warranty would have ended (it was an OEM, I broke the warranty sticker =P) it slowed down to about 4MB/s. I've had 3 western digitals, including the replacement for a broken one.

Personally I'd go with a WD with a 3 year warranty. Greater warranty = Manufacturers have greater confidence that it won't break.

Why the hell should anyone BE antisony?

Suppose Sony make a PS2 that can do EVERYTHING previous models can, and literally never breaks. Are you not going to buy it because you're "ZOMG ANTISONY!!!!!!" ? That's retarded. I'm not saying I particularly like the PS2 nor am I saying I don't condone everyone pissing off Overlord (=P), but this is just crap.

Hell aren't Microsoft mice like the 2nd-most praised mice in this board? Are the rest of you not going to buy them because WINDOWS SUXXORS LOLZ. Hell what about the Xbox? Anyone who refuses to buy an Xbox purely because it was made by Microsoft is retarded.

I have an Xbox because - after modding it - it is VERY easy to pirate games on it, and of course there are games that I like for it. I don't have a PS2 because there aren't any games I want on it. I have a Microsoft mousse yet I run Linux, OH NOES?

(Admittedly my Microsoft mouse is having problems, but meh =P)

Ah, here. I'd have posted the link in my last post, but SCARZ search is gay at the moment and I had to find it another way.

Look at the torrent filenames. PAL Xbox, NTSC PS2.

So yeah, TheZeck's version is most likely a final.

No, because I've completed the whole game on this. Almost the SECOND the download finished, I burned it to a disc, (Misspelled Heroes XD) and two days later, Sonic Heroes for the Xbox came out.

Judging by your strange flag (of which country it belongs to I have NO idea), isn't it entirely possible that you simply downloaded the American version and THEN it was released in your strange place of residence?

Come to think of it, wasn't the PAL version of Heroes leaked for Xbox sometime? IIRC, it was available on the Internet around January, when it was released in February.

Does it have any qualities that an alpha version would have? For example no echo on Omega's voice, voice samples missing, insanely obvious glitches (don't get me started on the not-everyone-seems-to-experience-glitches argument again).
