I think we should start worrying about making it clean once we get some actual success in porting other [completely different] games' sound engines... For now, I guess just changing some pointers would do the job while not complicating things more than they already are.

Perhaps Flicky and the MegaNet games will be the easiest to port at the moment, now that the music data for all of them has already been located inside the RAM.

I just got an idea.

Sonic 2 Final decompresses and loads all music data into Z80 RAM. We could at least start playing music in savestates using this method, as the music pointer format is a lot simpler.
