The 68230 was one of the later revisions of the 68000. The book covered general 68K assembly programming, not 68230 only assembly.

Hmm, I don't remember a 68230. The main CPU line went 68000, 68010, 68020, etc. The microcontroller line (i.e. has extra junk on it, like timers, serial controlers etc.) were 683XX parts. The external FPU was 68881 or 68882 (the latter being more powerful). A little bit of googling would suggest that it's actually a 68K peripheral chip called the PI/T (Parallel Interface and Timer).

I'd be more than happy to answer people's 68K questions (free of charge I might add) though I don't know if I'm up to making any proper lessons beyond my tutorials at the moment.
