Maybe you meant it to be this way, but from what I played in the first level, and I noticed this with Sonic, is that the ring monitors seemingly give random amounts of rings- as far as to 40 rings for one monitor. Maybe you have different monitors set up, but that's something that was odd. Other than that, nice job frfom what I've played so far.

The ring boxes give out 1, 5, 10, 20, 40 or 50 rings each time. It was intentional.

I love Metal Sonic. How is he gonna be involved? Is he gonna be playable or a boss or something? I'd love to play as Metal Sonic with complete sprites. =P

At the moment, he is a boss. He replaces Silver Sonic at the end of the game, but i'm gonna try and insert him as an act 1 boss as well if I can. I've not considered making him a playable character, since i've already got 3, but depending on rom space towards the end of the hack, I might consider doing it.

This hack really is pure genius. It's not only because of the whole time travel thing, the level it art is cool and the level layouts are very well done. Definatly one of the better hacks. Keep up the good work.

What i think would be cool, is if you could have an option to play as Sonic with Shadow following, like Tails would do. Also a playable Metal Sonic 'cause i love Metal Sonic. XD

We actually tried the Sonic + Shadow thing before, and it won't work to well because of the way the art is dynamically reloaded into VRAM. I figure he could get it to work by taking over Tails' VRAM spot, but 'm not too sure on that.

See, I have a beta where they followed each other. They shared art, and there were many clashes -- The art would overwrite each other constantly, fucking up animations and such. The concept was cool, but actually pulled off it was pretty corny.

Dude brill hack! Cant wait for it to be finished!

Are you going to change the lampost sprite or replace it with the past/future sprites? (sorry if this has already been answered) Also have you decided if you are going to use music from other levels/sonic games or compose them yourself?

Keep up the good work dude!

The Past/Future posts are already in the game (see pic) and are working perfectly. I'll be modifying the lampost art as well. The Past/Future signs are seperate objects from the lamposts altogether. I will definately be using one track from another game, but I might look into actually making my own, possibly in hex. It's probably too hard for me to do at the moment, but i'll look anyway.

Yeah, but if you hit one and you didn't wanna warp you'd be kinda pissed off, which is why I liked the way SCD did it, coz you get a choice of warping then.

Except for a minor graphical bug which i'm working on fixing, grinding is complete, and has support for as many levels as I want. I've got a video which i've linked to below. Of course, at the moment it's still demonstrated on OOZ, but you'll see there's less friction on the slides meaning you can go further up before coming down and there are 2 animations - 1 for uphill, 1 for downhill - which play at the correct times. You can't really see the graphical bug in this video but it's there. I wanna try and change Sonic's animation when he leaves the rail as well, rather than him staying in the grinding position.

On a side note, the grinding sprites are S3 style, whereas my current sprites are the original S2 sprites. I will be putting S3 sprites in though so just try to ignore it for now. The link to the video is below. If the link doesn't work properly, right-click and save as. It should work, but I say this just in case.

Grinding Video (11MB)
