Also, UFO Robotnik doesn't crash in the Arcade, even though it does in the GC version.

Also, only Honey is actually unused. The non-mech Robotnik, the Egg Pawn, and RocketMetal all appear in the intro.

I dont recall seeing the Egg Pawn in the GC intro...
I didn't notice it until I watched the Arcade intro. Was it removed or am I just not very observant?

Load your favorite cheating program up, and tell it to cheat on the emulator you're using. I used Cheat Engine for this.

Set it up to do a byte (8 bits) search.
At the character select screen, highlight one of the characters, and search for it's value (posted on first page). Keep switching characters and searching until you narrow it down. You should eventually end up with 3 addresses as results.

The last 2 both must be changed to the new value you want for the code to take effect. (I'd post the addresses here, but usually emulators always have their memory in different places, so it wont work for everyone. It's not too difficult to search yourself since I posted the values)

I'm only getting 1 value almost every time. 0EE507E9. And the values correspond to both player 1 and player 2. Also...doesn't Cheat Engine have a trainer building program?

Yeah...I think it's under one of those smaller buttons at the very bottom of the window-says "Advanced Options" I think.

I looked for the hidden stage today, and came out empty handed. At least, it's not in the GC version.

However, I'm kind of disappointed with what I found.
7E300064 - Level(?)
00 - South Island
01 - Flying Carpet
02 - Aurora Icefield
03 - Mushroom Hill
04 - Canyon Cruise
05 - Casino Night
06 - Dynamyte Plant
07 - Giant Wing
08 - Death Egg's Eye
09 - No level, just blackness... Same music as Death Egg's Eye. :-(
(Anything higher crashes)

The only address in my search that actually had an effect on the game when I changed it, and all of the levels are in order. :-(
That just seems wrong to me... They shouldn't be in order.
Have not tried the arcade version.

Edit: These level values also work on the arcade version. 09 and above don't crash, but they just load garbage. :-(
Stage 9 just loads some of Giant Wing's graphics, with... well, I dont know how to explain it. Screenshot below

I'm amazed at you guys and what you can do with these games. Thanks to you guys we're finding stuff we never new exsisted. I thank you for all your hard work. When I think about it, chances are Sunset Town may indeed have been Honey's stage. It's nice to know we may have solved that one mystery, but I have another that needs answering. Can anyone tell what type of animal she is? Looking at her Fighting Vipers self, one might assume she's a cat due to her attack names and such, but I can't be totally sure. Another thought, would this constitute a new Sonic character? I realize she seems to be little more then an in gag or sorts, but then again look at all the 'throw away' characters the Sonic series has had. Would it be any worse for ehr to be in the series? I think she makes a nice addition myself.

I was up for HOURS last night using 8 bit search....did byte search....found the values instantly.....

8 bits make a byte, but for some reason, searching in byte works...do that..... I first had it on tails, then bark, I think.

EDIT: After doing some research, I am very happy. Now I will reveal my findings.

1. Why is Honey’s head tilted and almost always looking at the camera? It’s because she only has one pupil that switches to the side the camera is on:

Note: This only happens pretty much when she is standing still, however, I have spotted a second pupil, but there are times where just one pupil switches from one to another.

I don’t see this expression anywhere else in the game…yet… but the hearts seem to be a facial expression thing….and that happens to be the value Sonic’s expression normally in the intro, as Bean has his smiley eyes, ….gah…nevermind….

Damn that’s creepy… So...no there is no love intrest....except between Fang and Tails.......right......But I’ll look into the eye thing a little more. I have some video if ya want it…of it changing and stuff….

This is most likely proof that Honey was a testing character, because it would make more sense to set questionable moves for testing to this character then test all the moves at once, rather than play several times, each with one character, to test one move.

Very cool finds. I have a few questions.

1. Were Rocket Metal, the Eggman shaped minion robot from the intro, Eggman's UFO and plain Eggman (no mech) intended and functional as playable characters? Or have you just managed to get the models there?

2. "Rocket Metal" is its official name? That's strange. I'm pretty sure that on the side of the rocket there's writing reading "Mecha Sonic Model No. 29" and some kind of Tails logo. Are the textures for this character availabel anywhere?

3. Thanks for the info on Honey's moves. What moves do the others (Rocket Metal etc) have?

4. I have the Nebula Model 2 emulator and the ROM, where can I get the cheater dealy from?
