ok so here's my concept of the afterlife, just for the hell of it.

i like to think we have a limited number of reincarnations, say, 4 lives. at the end of the last life, you and your other selves are taken to a cosmic steak n shake where you share a table, stories of lives past, and perhaps wives. also the steak n shake has an arcade and you are never billed for anything.

now, i'm sure a lot of you don't think this is the case. and i bet a few of you think that sounds cooler than what you were imaging as well. consider this possiblity: perhaps the brain can understand your expectations of the afterlife, or maybe just your last thought or whatever, and therefore locks itself into the reality that you have chosed in your mind when you die. you therefore continue on in the afterlife you have always imagined because your brain does it automagically. i'd be down with that.

Why is this in Shit Talk?

Anyway, if it was Valhalla, only more like Counter-Strike, that'd be pretty sweet. Maybe even a non-shitty version of Source.

I have no view on the afterlife, btw. I'd rather wait and die to see for myself than debate what I can't find out UNTIL then.

I'm pretty damn sure there is something after death, at least for a little while, because of things I've experienced in the past.

I hope this is the case, I really do. Absolutely nothing to worry about as far as religion goes if we just die and rot like the average animal. Though that raises another interesting question, if we get an afterlife, do animals get one too? What makes us so different from them, if we're different at all?

Yeah, thats not what I imagined an afterlife to be like.

But I totally support the "Heaven is what you beleive it to be" thing.

i've read parts of the bible (lol, song of solomon is hilarious) and heaven always sounded like it'd kinda suck. i don't die so i can go do work for god. fuck that noise. plus you'd probably get your mind wiped since your earthly mind contains sin and all that. how about no to that.

Lately I've been seeing things that I can't really explain. Auras, wispy things, even blurry faces sometimes. I've started to be able to remote view occasionally as well, which is sort of fun when I know what the hell I'm looking at. I believe there is an afterlife after the things I've seen and experienced. There are alot of things I don't wish to share, but I've reached some conclusions based on what I've seen. Everything that lives has a spirit. I say this because everything, from trees to mushrooms to insects to humans, has a color-changing aura. The colors, I've noticed, seem to indicate emotion. (At least from what I've seen and have been told; I don't see auras very well, and they're mostly translucent yellowish to me, with only a hint of color in some areas at different times.) Things such as active electrical wires, or rocks (mainly the ones that have been formed inside the earth as opposed to sedimentary) have auras as well, but they do not change color at all. The reason I connect spirits with auras is because I've seen someone use a dowsing pendulum, and it had both a different color aura than the user, and a small bluish white wispy thing that seemed to be pulling or pushing it. I sound like a complete idiot saying these things, as I have no direct proof to show you, but I'm just saying what I believe.
I think WoK's additude towards the afterlife is the best one though. Jumping to conclusions is stupid. Always keep an open mind, because whatever you believe could be proven wrong at any time, no mater how much proof you tink you have. This goes for me as well.

I think Slash's post and the fact that he mentioned mushrooms is way too big a coincidence.

So, the logical assumption is that we all just cease to be.

I hold an underlying thought, however, that it'd be nice to die and then remember all the lives you've lived 'cos then you have a bigger brain and can comprehend it, then we just hang around for a bit in a floaty atommy way and jump into another life if we feel like it.

But yeah, we probably just die.

It's stupid to not think there's an afterlife. It's just not what the religions tout. Remember, religions are all symbolic. If you read the Bible, or any religious texts, it's all symbolic.

The afterlife is whatever you wish it to be, be it valhalla, eternal service to god, reincarnation, another dimension, another dimension*, or whatever.

* the second "another dimension" applies to the furries.

personally, it's the final perception of the mind before the darkness, and perhaps that is etched on one's soul, so when it does fuck off, it just creates another reality. perhaps the soul is nothing more than tachyons that can travel through space and time, who knows?

I'm totally going theory on this shit, because, to be quite honest, we'll never know what it truly is until we die, and I don't plan on dying, not when nanotech can keep my sorry ass alive.

Spirits don't exist, you don't have a soul, and there is no afterlife. Your corpse simply rots. Sorry to break that to you.

People who see ghosts and shit most likely see phenomena that can be explained simply...Or that person has a mental condition, either one can apply.

Also, psychics aren't real and neither are empaths.

Good Day

Kinda off-topic, but not really. I forget which religion this is, but it basically says "Get enough karma and you go to Nirvana (I'm pretty sure that's it) or you will have to go through a certain number of resurrections (a thousand? don't remember that either) before you can get in." So that could mean you already fucked up and no matter what good you do in this life it doesn't matter cause you're only on your 7th. Just a random thought.
