By the way, how does a single bad pixel make the whole damn thing "defective"?

A pixel is a negativity which was not intended for the particular product in question. Therefore, it is considered "defective".

What?

It's not supposed to be there.

Um...okay. The irritating green pixel on the top screen seems to have magically disappeared sometime today. This leaves one slightly-less-than-irritating blue pixel on the edge of the bottom screen.

I think I'll keep this for a little while longer and see if the other one follows suit. =P

Dead pixels really do come and go. I never take them as a sign of forcoming failure because you still don't know if it'll clear up perfect as before, if it'll stay or it'll get worse. Basically, nothing more than any other part of hardware.

QUOTE(WiteoutKing)

Logically, the same reason why a dead button makes it defective, or static over the left speaker side makes it defective. Practically, very little.

No, because:

You opened the Package that the Micro was confined in. Therefore, anything that was attached or changed the original design of the Micro while it was in the original packaging is a "defect". Dust is from outside the package, and from your house. Not Defected.

Plus it would be harder to prove that the dust came from the original packaging. And... it is a frivolous(sp?) reason to get your Micro exchanged.

No. I have dust under the screen on my phone and it is really annoying.

Only thing I can recommend is a screwdriver and a rag.

Since we're being all speshul and correcting people today, it's called a lit pixel, not a dead one. A dead one would be black, and wouldn't light up any color. And I've got one blue pixel on my digital camera :(

'Cause I've always done that. No particular reason. Deal with it.

It turns out the dead (er, sorry, "lit") pixels on the top screen gradually appear after the DS has been on for a couple of hours. If I let it "cool down" for 15 minutes or so, they disappear again. Friggin' bizarre...

It doesn't. It makes the screen "defective".

"Could give a shit" pisses me off too. I almost want to reply "go on then". Granted it has become common slang in some areas, but to me, apparently Stiv, and presumably others, it's stupid slang. This is our rebellion against it. Fight the power. FREEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM!!!!!!!!!

And Nintendo's "it isn't a defect" is fucking stupid. If they didn't design it to do that, if it isn't SUPPOSED to be displaying that specific colour all the time (which it isn't), then it's a defect plain and simple.

How does a CRT get a dead pixel any way? Is it a dead pixel? There is just one pixel around the top left of my screen that is always black. Not that noticable when it's a 19" monitor on 1600x1200, but it gets annoying sometimes
