Okay yesterday I was at an arcade playing a game of Maximum Tune 2. (MT2 is a street racing game somewhat like Initial D, but set on highways instead of mountain passes.) Well, on the unoccupied machine, a couple kids start messing with the controls and mock-playing the game. Even after advising them not to break the machine, they still played around on it. Then later, I came back and there were even mroe kids (probably like 5-7 of them) playing on that machine, and by "playing" I mean sucking horribly. I challenge them with a fully-tuned car to a couple races and each time they lost by more than 4 kilometers because they didn't know what they were doing. As they were playing, one kid was assisting the one playing with shifting, and shifting very poorly. Seeing them act like that was horrible. I got worried that sooner or later their abuse will eventually break something.

On a side note, driving a Toyota Hiace minivan on that game is pretty fun.

Well, they're little kids. Can't blame them really. I used to pretend to play on machines when I didn't have the money.

I an asshole who hates kids so I agree with gs68 100%. I never went fake playing on arcade machines or anything like that. I hate it how kids always think they're doing something properly when they're not.

Kinda going on a tangent here, but when my parents got a piano, although I sometimes pressed random keys for fun I sure as hell didn't give myself the impression I was actually playing anything, nor did I press them in a damaging way. Instead I taught myself how to play Old McDonald had a farm, whereas some kids couldn't even get the TIMING of the wrong keys right.

Oh ho ho, you don't know half of the shit I put up woth at my arcade. Since our town has no idea what bemani is (hell, I don't think any town outside of Japan knows what it is), they have the incredible urge to satisfy their curiosity with it by INTERRUPTING me while I'm playing it. This happens more with DDR than Drummania. Little kids either stepping retardedly waiting to be kicked on the other pad, or if I step off, them pretending or copying what I just did. As for drummania, I've had kids try and block the screen, or start yelling. Once some kid tried to take the sticks.

I try to ignore it...

As for IIDX Pop 'n... Its at an asian mall ;)

I don't know. Arcades were intended for kids anyhow, so I wouldn't get too upset.

I can understand those dinky carnival games that spout out tickets being for kids, but most video game arcades I've gone to were always full of teen-aged gamers and up, while every now and then an annoying little kid rushes in to mess with stuff, only to be shooed out by their parents moments later. Unless they're playing that rollerball game thingie or whatever.

Like, right after Tekken 5 came out, I'd even see guys who looked 20 or older lined up waiting to play. The DDR, PUMP, and Initial D machines are pretty much being constantly played by a loop of the same people all day as well, none of them looking younger than 15.

But yes, I am also bitter and hate children messing around with things. Thankfully I haven't had many bad experiences with them, maybe just being annoyed by some kid screaming MOMMY MOMMY I WANNA PLAY WAH WAH.

You haven't seen any of these games in action apparently.

And the series and spinoffs are intended for the teen crowd, not the little kids.

DDR is for kids?

lol little bitch

lol the whistle song (aka "Blow My Whistle Bitch")

lol insertion

Seriously, if little kids are gently mock-playing the machine, and do get off when someone is playing or wants to play, that's fine. But if they look like they might break something, or if their screwing around gets in someone's way, that's when I have to step in and tell them to be polite, even though I know that has a toilet's chance of working (these days, it's cool to do the opposite of what you're told).

I've actually had a kid get on a DDR machine while I was playing. I failed my current song, and thankfully his dad offered to give me tokens to make up for his son's behavior.

Little kids doing stuff like that doesn't bother me, it's when they do it after their parents tell them not to that bothers me. Parents today are awful, they let their kids do anything I swear.

Well, you shouldn't let it get to you. I understand how it is with kids at arcades, but getting generally annoyed by it isn't really gonna help. If its so much of an anoyance, go to another arcade (unless you know, its the only one in the entire town, then you're fucked).
