I didn't like Heroes not because of glitches or bad voice acting but because I just thought the game got boring and tedious after the first few levels. It seemed less like a Sonic game and more like another generic platformer the more and more I got through it.

You know Cyber, I think we're being ignored a bit. What a shame.

P.S If there's all these glitches how come I haven't game across a gameplay glitch when playing the course normally on my Japanese Gamecube version, a PAL PS2 version and the PC version of the game? It makes me slightly suspisious that everyone sucks at the game so much they bandwaggon the glitches train just to make it look like it's the games fault. (Which has been said before, yes... Just wanting to make my own remark on it)

Okay, here's my more neutral piece on glitches (I said this elsewhere and copy-pasted most of it): No thats not a fucking smiley.

The glitches in Sonic's games are totally blown out of proportion. Now, I'm not going to deny their existence; entire FAQ's have been written, but they're not the game killers everybody says they are. I've played through both Adventures multiple times and Heroes twice. The only glitch I can recall encountering in normal gameplay is the 'fall-through-Final-Egg-elevator-and-lose-1-life' glitch. Annoying, but life goes on. Making Knuckles's glide backwards? Drowning by standing next to a tree for a minute? Who's going to encounter this in normal gameplay (and even then, who really cares?)

You know, not every company has the funds to give their games bottomless budgets. And sadly, SEGA is one of those. It's just a fact of business. Hundreds of games, movies, what have you aren't given the budget they need and they have to cut back. Even so, such trivial glitches are not given priority, as well they shouldn't. No glitches would be good, but unless a glitch specifically messes up my performance or progress, I don't really care.

Think it goes something like this?
"Hey Joseph, what are you doing?"
"I'm programing some code."
"Nevermind that, some drunken monkey randomly flailing on a controller made Knuckles hit a certain wall in Mystic Ruins at a 45 degree angle and made him go backwards. Everyone stop working, we need to fix that!"

No, it goes more like...
"Hey, there's an issue with collisions in this particular spot."
"Is it serious?"
"No."
"Well, I'm busy doing something else. Like, MAKING THE GAME GOOD. If I get done with that, I'll see what I can do."

GTA had some nastyass glitches. Save file corruption! Where's the uproar on those? Oh, there's some, but not nearly on the level of Sonic's MOST GRIEVIOUS GLITCHES.

Although back on topic: yeah, the Adventures were much better than Heroes.

Well, I wasn't ignoring you. I read Cyber's argument about the glitches and I actually somewhat agree with it. I don't remember encountering any real technical problems when I played the game myself. (haven't played the thing in a good year and a half though). The only thing I found bad was the camera but that's just become a staple of 3D Sonic games and will probably be in every future Sonic game until the end of time.

But, even if a game happens to be programmed good doesn't mean I'm automatically going to like it. I've played a good deal of games with little to no glitches that I found boring and uninteresting and that's basically how I feel about Sonic Heroes. It's one of the few Sonic games I can't compel myself to play again after completing which is a rarity with me. I even replay the Sonic (and Shadow) stages from both Sonic Adventures from time to time (which I believe to be the one/only good part of those games).

To be honest with you, I was actually looking forward to this game somewhat when I played the demo, then when I played the final product after the first few stages, I ended up being real dissapointed. It seems like they put a good effort into the beggining of the game then just halfassed it the rest of the way through.

Well, that's a given. I'm not saying I like Heroes, I'm just saying I have (had) no problems with it glitch-wise.

The game itself:

+No Chao Garden.
+No mech stages. Although the speed levels in SA/SA2 were the best, I like a level as long as you're on foot and not in a stupid mech.
+REALLY hard at first in some places for me. Like I said before, new mechanics.

-After completing the story, 100% completion isn't hard due to practice. With some levels, Super Hard mode was easier than playing those levels for the first time in normal mode.
-A lot more childish. If this is an E (as opposed to the lowest rating; EC), then SA2 is borderline E/E10+, IMO.
-No matter how you play it, Team Rose's experience is never good. It's the most boring team to start the game with and the most shitty team to play after another, except possibly Chaotix.
-Sega of America don't know when to not use "it's". See the end of level 2.

I wouldn't say there are glitches, but more like technical annoyances.

Like very often, when you land somewhere, your characters will automatically run straght forward at full speed and fall somewhere, that's annoying.

Then, there's the fact that when punching with your power character you have almost no control of where you are going and can easily fall down a pit (only on rare ocasions does the characters stop and say "whoops").

Also, the camera sucks. You don't control it enough while it keeps changing using crazy transitions so it looks good but combined with the sucky control engine it's really bad.

That, plus more stuff I forgot makes for a lot of -1Up and other annoying failures.

There are also other problems, though less critical. Like how hard it is sometimes to do whatever they call the "spindash". Tails and Knux are just running around aimlessly most of the time so they can't kick you to do it (even after holding the button). And why remove the spindash in the first place? It was awesome to make long jumps with it and such.

Flying sucks too. It's too short and very slow.

Aaand that's all I can think for now. SH is fun to play but only once, and that's forgetting the number of failures it takes to get all A...

I haven't really come across any glitches yet. In actual fact, I'm finding the game OK right now... not great, but OK.

I generally agree that Glitches aren't important unless they really affect gameplay. And since I haven't come across any such glitches, I've nothing to really complain about.

My main gripe with the game is that it really does very little to surprise me. Okay, so you can interact with other characters... that's nice, but it doesn't work perfectly. A lot of the time I just want to be running really fast not getting Knuckles to pull us all up in the air with him.

Yes, it makes for a nice challenge and it is quite a change of pace from the other sonic games, so I respect it.

However, apart from that it's not really breaking much ground and I can't really see that I'll be playing it again if/when I finish it. Kinda like Sonic R.

I think the most notable thing about Heroes was the (in my opinion) cool way your teammates would comment on the surroundings and talk to each other. It helps draw you into the spirit of the game, and helps accentuate their personalities.

Yeah, that was okay..but it was annoying that they were all mostly hints, especially more so during later levels were you knew how those things worked. The game is basically holding your hand the whole way through the entire game.

Eh, some were them. Some were pretty cool, like Team Dark's reaction to the casino levels, or some of the random banter partners would shout out during the grinding transitions on the last level. Hearing my partners shouting while you're blasting down the grind rails while lasers fire really adds to the experience.

And I liked Heroes overall, although it's not as fun to go back to as SA2 is.

I actually don't see why Sonic Heroes got so heavily pissed on the way it did. Sure, it may have not been the best thing to hit the market- but people complain about the glitches as if it was Big Rigs. (use the GameSpot search and humor yourself. ^_~) I actually didn't really notice many glitches at all. The only things that I can really see wrong with the game are the phyisics- the fact that almost every movement in the game pushes you foward like hell is really annoying, especially when punching enemies on a cliff in power formation. It's really slippery. You can't even "walk" with the joystick for more than about 5 seconds without breaking into a sprint. Sometimes, the game was repetitive, and I'll admit that some of the music was bland and repetitive. (I felt like kicking SEGA's ass when I found out that the 'good' BINGO Highway theme was for 2-player. >_<)And the storyline sucked, which we all know. But I don't see why everybody loathes the game so much. I actually enjoyed it.
