Did Nights 2 even make it to the developmental stage or was it just a scrapped idea, i remember when i got my Saturn it came with that Bootleg Sampler Disc and in the preview video it listed Nights 2 as an upcoming game.

Nights 2 would of been 'Teh daddy!', but this is the first time i'm hearing anything of it on any bootleg sampler disc!

What else was on this disc (wonders if it's the one with Clockwork knight 2/BUG/world series baseball demo's - from the UK)

AH! NO-WAY DUDE...I have the bootleg sampler disc and i'm 100% sure! It's NOT nights 2...think about it...
open the CD on your pc and check the dates next to the files! xx/10/1995 is the year shown for most of them, hell Nights was not released untill mid 1996. The disc shows footage of some of the very early saturn games, like Daytona USA, Panzer Dragoon and Virtua Cop.
There is no diffrence in the US/UK versions of the cd, just what hardware they run on.

I will try to upload the video(s) for anyone that wants to see them. (I thought that disc was quite rare....)

the video goes quite quick at the end, and you may of seen world series baseball 2 overlap the nights one or somthing...

I've heard things that there was a sequel in the works called AirNiGHTS, but it got scrapped. You notice how you can take apart the 3D control pad for the saturn? It's because they supposedly were planning an add-on for the controller.

I found this:

QUOTE
A sequel was planned, and supposedly was intended to use a tilt sensor in the analogue pad. Development of this was discontinued (apparently due to quality issues). Another sequel (for the Sega Dreamcast) was discussed, using a motion-sensing wand as a controller, but this was also discontinued. However, it has been suggested that the technology for this title (which had the working title Air NiGHTS) would have been similar to that of Samba De Amigo, and Air NiGHTS may even have been a extremely early version of that game. It is said that Yuji Naka refuses to release a sequel because he cannot improve the game any further other than a graphical update. This is supported by a February 2005 interview, in which he expressed that a NiGHTS sequel would have to be of perfect quality, so it would take a long time to, in his words, "Get it right".

Says the man with hotlinked sigs.

We complain about Naka whoring out everything else, and then we complain that he's not making more NiGHTS games. Awesome.

Bullshit, it can't have been Naka. He wouldn't have canned a game just because he sucks at doing it (for those who came out of jungle and don't know - Naka sucks at producing Sonic games. $$$ change people =D)

that "more games" video had Nights, not nights 2 afaik. I'm too lazy to do screengrabs of it now, will do it tomorrow.

(and the EUR version of that demo disc got a playable demo of Bug, not just a shitty video, ha-ha-ha)

It does say Panzer Dragoon 2 with a huge 2 in it, just a frame before, so that was probably the thing confusing you.

And interestingly, the avi for Bug was still on the disc and can be viewed once you install the duck truemotion codecs.

We also got a Virtua Fighter 2 demonstration (not video, but the "intro fight" of the game in yummy hires), not sure if the usa ver had that.

Now if someone had the japanese version so I could check what games did that one have...

Motion-sensing wand, eh? Maybe they might re-open that project with the Revolution... >_>
